Hello Richard Joyce here e-mails you while on holiday in St Martin a long way from Aston. To cut a long story short we the family have always been met with a dead end regarding our fathers father and mother and their family. He was killed in the war in 1917 along with his brother We believe their names were Jack and Thomas. My late uncle died last year at 94 the last link to them. we have some blanks to fill in reside in Canada we do have family in Brum but my grandfathers war records went in ww11.what happened to our grandmother she must have died young she had seven sons to bring up my father could not or would not remember what happened to her he died in 1981.where do we start. We have pictures but don’t know who the people are in them. Their next door neighbours were the warrens, Abe warren was my dad jacks friend. he also had another great friend Billy ward who did well for himself in the scrap metal business he paid us a visit much to my fathers embarrassment in the early 1970s he dropped by our council house in Bartley green in his rolls Royce on the way to see Bruce Rioch the villa player he gave my mom Lucy cut glass glasses meant for him. My dad who wasn’t doing so well in his view didn’t want to keep up contact with Billy who I think may have been a villa director or closely connected. it would be great to fill in the blanks before its too late me and my brother often talk about doing something but always are too busy! The family lived on Pritchett Street Aston not far from the bull pub. my dad’s brothers were, Albert, Tom ( MM), George, Henry, Bert, bill, and dad Jack (the youngest born 1917) I haven’t been back to Brum since 1986 but will make it one day maybe take my son show him Aston hall where his grandfather used to play with the cannon balls with his palls, maybe even go to a villa game. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My mom’s family the Chadwick’s were also from Aston Sutherland Street. Grandfather Chadwick laid the rubber road in front of Lewis’s long ago a real tradesman
Regards
Richard Joyce
