Here's a little ditty by Biz Bizley that's guaranteed to bring a tear to the eye of any ex-pat missing the "old end"...

Seeing the thread about nostalgic songs made me think about how we as a family used to pass some of our evenings when young. My mum used to buy song sheets. Does anyone remember them they were brilliant. We all used to have a go at singing the local favourites at the time and us kids even acted out little scenarios for mum, dad and varoius relatives when they popped round.

My younger sister did a great impression of "My Old Man" (said follow the van). and as there were three sisters in all we always did a rowsing rendition of "Sisters" . This was followed by my brother doing tricks, he would spin a table cloth on a stick, never plates although he wanted too much to mums consternation. My dad used to finish these nights off by playing the spoons  on his knee or playing the mouth organ.

They were great nights and when I talk about them to my children they are amazed by the stories.

I also remember not so far back (about 15 years) when the whole family decided to have a party and my mum started singing the old war songs, suddenly my husband who was slightly older than me joined her and the whold family were treated to a trip back in time. A brilliant night and a treat never to be forgotten by the younger members of my family, who still talk about it today.
