We have the same here Gerald they close the sea front for all these weekend so called festivals which means you have to skirt the town only buses can go along the front. And it doesn't matter about the shops they are all closed anyway, only charity shops open. All the others have gone to the New Shopping Centre.

When I was a get you home breakdown driver ,got talking to a French Lorry driver one day.Told me not to go up past Heathrow on the M25 to the M4 but to take the M3 and go through Brackley it was so much quicker.Saved hours.

When I came out of the garage trade I got a job Artic driving for Warriner&Masons Grocery Wholesalers. We used to deliver to all the Wrensons Shops around Brum.I was with them for 9 mths, then got a job as a Vansalesman for Harris of Calne Wiltshire at Cas Brom,in the M& B factory.I still had to call in the Wrenson shops.I got pulled over the carpet because the Wrensons at Shirley used to have 1 Boiled ham a week at 6/6 a pound, but I let the manager have them for 6/- a pound,he started having 6-7 hams a week I thought it was great for my sales.Whe I first took the round over it was doing 300 a week. When I decided to leave it was about 900 a week. They still wanted more this was in 1965.

Remember in64 we drove overnight from Brum to Torquay through Bristol because there was no  M5 at the time ,what a journey down the A38.To add to it I had violent toothache.Next day had to find a dentist he said I had an apsis and had to have antibiotics.3days later went back to have it out
