18  General Discussion / General Posts / Re: PEOPLE FROM THE WEST INDIES on: April 17, 2018, 09:41:00 PM
People from the West Indies gave up their lives and their country to come here. Okay they may have thought the grass was greener on the other side but that was a chance they took. The first generation of West Indies to land here had it hard but they persevered where others wouldn't. They have worked hard all their lives just like you and me to help the next generation have a better life. It is disgraceful the way these people have been treated, the thousands of people send back to a country they barely know.

I thought Water Orton already had a park with swings and roundabouts.
20  General Discussion / General Posts / Re: WHAT ARE YOUR COUNCIL SERVICES LIKE on: April 15, 2018, 05:13:50 PM
I live in Tamworth where the roads here are in a terrible state, Pot holes are getting deeper and spreading like the pneumonic plague. Up till now I have never seen anyone repairing them. I would like to know what these people who are responsible for repairs doing?
Surely if you pay your road tax to the DVLA they must take part of the responsibility and not leave it all to the local councils.
Why don't we pay our road tax direct to our local council? You would then see repairs galore, but saying that if they built or repaired the roads correctly in the first place they wouldn't have to dig them up every 5 minutes. (Well every 5 mins being a joke.)

Hello Townie
Was their any special reason why you asked about Old Church Road.

Twm 1979.

Licensee shooting - massive police hunt in Water Orton for the masked raiders who shot 73 year old Gilbert Rhodes with a sawn-off shotgun during a raid on his off licence.

Yes just approaching Water Orton. The wall on the left is the back of the pub the Dog Inn, and yes that's Hams Hall in the background. The Train has just come off the Kingsbury Tamworth line.
