Unfortunately trams had finished when I started using public transport, Blackpool and Beamish museum were the only places I've ever travelled on a tram.

When I was 8 my mom had got no change so she gave me 6p coin (2 1/2p today) in case I wanted something while she was at work.Went to the Capstand to catch the tram into Brum.when I got on we had got as far as the Ashted Cinema when the conductor came for the fare, when I offered him the 6p he said he had no change and I had to get of at the next stop.

Hello Townie and Edmund.
The junction of Ashted Row,  Great Francis Street and Vauxhall Road was quite big and had an island in the middle with an ornate
Gas Light in the middle that had arms coming out of it.
It was very old and had been used for horse drawn carriages, The gas light did look as if you could hang your hat on it.
Hope this info helps, its easy to see why it was known by two names.
Gerald.

Hello Townie
Be good if you could find one. The lamp Post was something from Victorian Times.
