I'm intrigued Gerald was you in their for a crime? Maybe stealing flowers, plants, tools etc from the local parks. Only joking I guess a Prison Officer?

You almost got it right. My visits were to arrange working parties of offenders that might
like to get jobs as gardeners when released. Have you seen he film Greenfingers, that will show
you what I was doing.
No trouble with the men and boys, Women and girls had one track minds.
It was a good job and I covered all of the Midlands.
Whilst doing that I was running my own part time nursery. The first time I sold one of my own plants
and got sixpence was 62 years ago.
Keep the spade clean.

Hello Everyone
The best prison I went in was Shrewsbury. Clean, no smells and better attitude
from prisoners. They would talk to you about anything. All clean and well groomed.
