My wife and I plan to visit the UK and London one day and I know all the hidden secrets arent easily found on the Internet. I was wondering, what would you recommend visiting? I am interested in history, culture, food and entertainment.

Hi Robert, Pity you're not coming to Brum instead, I know more about that. From the little I know about London I would suggest the British Museum and the National Art Gallery. I've also heard that a trip on one of the tour buses is well worth while and of course, a ride on the London Eye, if you can manage it as I believe it has to be booked in advance. That might be worth looking into in advance: http://www.londoneye.com/ If you're looking for traditional food why not try some jellied eels with your fish and chips? When it comes to entertainment there's sure to be something in one of the many theatres that meets you tastes. I hope that helps and you're able to raise a second mortgage to pay for it all.

To add but a few.
First lesson do not carry oodles of money at one time.
It's a great City, lots to see, the tube is a great way around London but it can be tricky and is so busy at times.
Petticoat Lane Market, The wax works, i thought this eerie, but it's worth a look. Tower of London. The Crown Jewels, Large Hotels for afternoon tea, lunch, dinner, supper.whatever you can afford. Dorchester, Royal Lancaster, Tiffany Old Bond street, Changng of the Guard. HMS Belfast. Imperial War Museum. best to make an itinerary before you go,look it up on the internet and familiarize yourself with a small guide book and map, You should be able to write to the information bureau, and pick the information up for nothing after all you are going there to spend money...Cat There are always lots of shows on in London and you must go and see Shakespeare at the globe theatre.

OH how I envy anyone going to London,
It was a four times a year event for me when single then maybe once a year when married but it is a place to be put at the top of anyones wish list .. All the places mentioned before but include Hyde Park Corner on a Sunday afternoon, well thats if soapboxes are still allowed....Lyons Tea Shop,Wimbledon in Summer
GO and I order you to ENJOY yourselves

I spend a week there every July, afternoon tea at Harrods as the resident pianist plays 'Girl from Ipanema' or whatever you request - absolutely spiffing
